Terms of use

These terms govern your use of Rungavo. They set out what you agree to when you use the site, what you may and may not do, what Rungavo is and is not responsible for, and on what grounds an account is suspended or closed.

Last updated 27 Sept 2026

What these terms cover

These terms apply to Rungavo on the web, in any Rungavo app, and across any service that uses your account.

Reading a public page accepts the terms that cover reading it. Creating an account accepts all of them.

Who these terms are with

These terms are between you and Rungavo.

For any question about these terms, email legal@rungavo.com.

Swiss law governs these terms, and a dispute about them is heard by the Swiss courts.

What Rungavo is

Rungavo provides ratings and rankings for players in your city, and a way to challenge an opponent. It is not a court booking service, a coach, a club or a tournament organiser.

Rungavo isn't a party to any match, doesn't book or inspect a court, and doesn't supervise play. You and your opponent arrange the time, the place and the court between yourselves.

Who can join

You must be 18 or over to create an account and use Rungavo.

You must give accurate details. Your account is personal to you and can't be transferred. You can't sell it, lend it or share it with anyone else.

You may create an account and sign in using a passwordless email sign-in link, Sign in with Google, or Sign in with Apple. You're responsible for securing the email account and the sign-in methods you use to reach Rungavo.

Playing a match

When you send or accept a challenge and play a match, you must comply with these rules.

  • You must accept or decline a challenge within 3 days. A challenge unanswered after 3 days expires unrated.
  • You can decline a challenge at any time with no penalty and no effect on your rating.
  • You must play an accepted match within 7 days. An unplayed match expires after 7 days unrated.
  • If you don't turn up to a match you agreed to play, your opponent wins by walkover. You take the loss, they take the win, and both ratings move by as much as a played match would move them.
  • If you stop playing during a match, it is recorded as a retirement. The sets played are kept and the win goes to your opponent.
  • After a confirmed match, neither player can challenge the other again for 14 days. This wait does not apply when fewer than 5 players in your sport are within your range, excluding players who are away, hidden from the rankings or suspended, but including players at their weekly match cap or on a 14-day wait. At most 2 matches between the same pair are rated in any 30 days, and further matches are unrated.
  • If you have no confirmed match in 30 days, your account is marked inactive.

Entering a result

Rungavo doesn't adjudicate a match. You and your opponent are responsible for submitting and confirming your result under these rules.

  • Either player submits the result. The other confirms it or counters it.
  • If you both submit the same score independently, it is confirmed immediately.
  • A counter must carry a counter-score. A bare no is not a counter.
  • Each player gets up to 2 submissions, 4 per match.
  • Every step carries a 48-hour deadline. If you don't respond within 48 hours, what is on the table is confirmed.
  • You must enter a score within the 7-day play window plus 48 hours. After that the match has expired and can never be rated.
  • If you agree on the winner and differ on the games, and the dispute is still open after the last submission, the match is rated as a win for the agreed winner at the narrowest margin there is. The winner gains less than any real score would have given them, the loser still takes the loss, and the match counts towards both ratings.
  • If you disagree on who won and the dispute is still open after the last submission, the match is voided and rated for neither player.

Ratings and rankings

Your rating is calculated from your confirmed results. It is an estimate of how you play. It is not a qualification, a licence, or a guarantee about you or about anyone you are matched against.

Your rating moves only when a result of yours is confirmed. A long gap between matches doesn't change it, but it does mark it provisional. Your position can still move while you aren't playing, as other players confirm results.

Conduct, disputes and suspension

Your account may be suspended automatically by a threshold, or closed by a decision for a breach of these terms.

If too many of your disputes end without agreement, your account is suspended for a period, and a repeat suspension is permanent.

A dispute that ends without agreement counts for both players, and is shown to nobody.

After a match you can report the other player from a fixed list: no-show, arrived very late, poor sportsmanship or abuse, refused the agreed format, called scores dishonestly, or a safety concern. One short note if you want one, one report per match.

  • A report is never shown to the player it is about, in any form, and never affects a rating.
  • Reports from separate players carry the same consequences. A notice names the category and never the reporter.
  • A safety concern goes to a person immediately and doesn't wait for a pattern.

A permanent ban survives erasing your account, and the same email address can't register again.

Rungavo may suspend or close your account at its discretion, including on the grounds under What you may not do.

To appeal a suspension, email legal@rungavo.com.

What you may not do

When using Rungavo, you must not:

  • Submit a false result, or agree with an opponent to record one for a match that was never played.
  • Open a second account to get a fresh rating, or to come back after a ban.
  • Harass or abuse another player, or anyone from the Rungavo team.
  • Scrape the site, or run automated requests against it.
  • Probe its security.

Doing any of the above is a ground for suspending or closing your account, under Conduct, disputes and suspension.

What you add

This covers everything you add to your profile or share through Rungavo, including your name and your photo.

You keep it. You give Rungavo permission to show it where these terms and the privacy policy say it is shown, and you confirm it is yours to give and that any photo is of you.

What Rungavo owns

Rungavo owns the site, the brand, and the rankings and ratings as a collection.

You get a personal licence to use Rungavo for your own play. You can't transfer it.

You can't republish the rankings, build a dataset out of them, or use any of it commercially.

Availability, and what Rungavo is responsible for

Rungavo is provided as it is, with no uptime promise. A feature may change or stop.

Rungavo isn't a party to your match, doesn't book a court, inspect one or supervise play, and is not responsible for what happens at a match.

You are responsible for confirming that you are fit to play and that the venue, court and opponent are suitable.

Rungavo isn't liable for indirect or consequential loss, for a lost opportunity, or for anything arising out of a match or a venue.

Nothing here excludes or limits liability that the law does not allow to be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by Rungavo's own negligence.

Ending your account, and changes to these terms

You can close your account by emailing legal@rungavo.com. It is carried out within 1 month and it cannot be undone. Your matches and your results stay in the rankings under Former player, because a result records an event involving 2 people and yours cannot be removed without removing theirs.

You can't withdraw from these terms without closing your account, which means erasing it.

These terms are dated. The last updated date at the top of this page is the record of when they last changed.

If a court finds one of these terms unenforceable, the rest still apply.
