Privacy policy

Rungavo holds personal data to run your account, work out your rating and show the rankings. This policy covers what is held, who can see it, how long it is kept, and what you can ask for.

Who we are

Rungavo runs the rankings and decides what personal data is collected and why.

For any question about this policy or your data, email legal@rungavo.com.

Swiss law governs this policy and the terms of use.

What we collect

Using Rungavo creates personal data in 4 groups.

  • What you share: your name, email, photo, date of birth, gender and city.
  • What your play produces: your challenges, your matches, your results and your ratings.
  • The choices you make: each consent you gave or withdrew, your privacy settings, and how you heard about Rungavo.
  • How you reach the site: when you were last seen, and the kind of client and device you signed up from.

Why we hold it

Your data is held for 3 reasons.

  • To give you the service: running your account, your challenges, your matches, tournaments and the rankings, where your name and your rating are shown.
  • Because you said yes: anything optional you gave consent for, such as email updates. You give and withdraw each one on its own.
  • Because the law requires it: record keeping, and keeping abuse and banned accounts out.

What other people can see

Rankings, profiles, matches, clubs and coaches are public pages and search engines index them. Your rating, rung, position, record and city are always shown.

Your name and your photo are yours to control. Hiding your name hides your photo too, and you read as Private player to everyone: signed in, signed out or arriving from a search engine.

Your date of birth is shown to nobody, ever. A weekly match cap is never public. A match that has not been played yet hides its club and its time from everyone except the 2 players in it.

How we measure the site

The site uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and Vercel Speed Insights to measure page load speeds on real devices. Both collect aggregate metrics only.

Neither tool writes a cookie, reads one, or stores an identifier in your browser. Nothing that identifies you is ever sent to either tool: no account, name, email address, or identifier derived from them.

Both scripts are served from Rungavo's own domain, so no third party sees your visit.

Cookies

Rungavo sets these cookies and no others.

  • One that keeps you signed in, set when you sign in and read on every page after.
  • One that carries a sign-in across the redirect to Google or Apple, finished with as soon as you land back.
  • One that carries your answer from one signup step to the next. It does not outlive the sitting.

All of them are needed to run what you asked for, which is why there is no cookie banner. There is no analytics cookie, no advertising cookie, and no cookie set by anyone other than Rungavo.

Your rights

You have rights over your data. Email legal@rungavo.com and you get an answer within 1 month.

  • Get a copy of what is held.
  • Export your data.
  • Correct anything wrong.
  • Erase your account.
  • Object to being published.
  • Withdraw a consent you gave.
  • Complain to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner in Switzerland, or to the data protection authority where you live.

Erasing clears your name, email, photo, date of birth and gender, your signup answers, and your activity and device details, deletes your sign-in, and leaves the account as a marker with no person attached. You request it at legal@rungavo.com and it is carried out within 1 month. It cannot be undone and there is no way to get the account back. Your match results and your ratings stay, under Former player, because a result records an event involving 2 people and yours cannot be removed without removing theirs.

How long we keep it

Nothing is kept for longer than the reason it was collected for.

Who else processes it

4 companies process your data, and nobody else does. 3 are American companies and 1 is Swiss. Your data sits in the EU, bar mailboxes held in Switzerland.
